Howard Cooper is a genius. I have no idea how he does it! I had a high speed ski crash which left me very fearful of falling. After an initial 15 mins phone call, I started to feel that I could conquer my fear and that it was possible to ski fear free. It only took 1 session for me to feel more confident, from being so scared to even speak about skiing and my crash, I was able to laugh and smile about it!! Fear isn’t even a word I have to use these days. Anyone who can create such change in someone within just an hour and a half deserves a medal! I would highly recommend Howard to anyone!

“At 46 years old, I have suffered from panic and anxiety for virtually my entire life. Recently, on a vacation to Hawaii, my anxiety and panic got worse than it had ever been in my life. It got to the point where I wasn’t leaving our condominium due to severe panic episodes.

I experienced elevated heart rate, sweaty palms, shaking and a general feeling of impending doom AND air hunger / difficulty breathing to the point that I almost went to the Emergency Room. WOW, at long last I found something that works for me. A smoker who started smoking in his teens and carried on for nearly 30 years until January 2020 when I met Howard. I stopped smoking after only 1 session and have never needed to look back and this was all possible through the technique that Howard uses.

After suffering increasing anxiety about a multitude of things, I had often wanted to try hypnotherapy and life coaching sessions. INSOMNIA & ANXIETY

I first suffered from a bout of viral labyrintitus in 2008. I was, during that period, sometimes unable to walk without clinging on to lamp posts and walls. That condition came and went for many years until, in September 2018 I went seriously “wonky” again. I have an office on the 16th floor with floor to ceiling windows and after 5 months of no issues, suddenly I was unable to sit at my desk, would resort to sitting on the floor, and had the absolute certainty that I would be falling out of the glass wall, despite, mentally knowing that this couldn’t happen. In addition to this sudden re-appearance of vertigo, I had a work-trip to the US looming which I had to attend.

My first steps were maybe what most people would take – firstly, I booked myself onto a Fear of Flying Course, a full day in Heathrow, including a flight, I then saw a vestibular specialist, who referred me to another “more senior” specialist, who eventually prescribed medication.

The medication was prescribed a week before my flight to the US and I was in tears of desperation at that appointment, knowing the medication would take 6 weeks to kick in and I had a flight in 5 days.

I then found Howard.

Two sessions later, so within a total of 3 hours, I found tools that meant I could get on the flight, be calm, know for absolute certain that I could deal with that flight and the apprehension prior to it, and that’s exactly what happened.

I flew home on an early Monday morning, returned to my office on Tuesday, and am sat by my window, happily looking onto the London landscape, without a wobble, a sweat or a fear in my head. I am not taking any medication.

I was 100% skeptical about “hypnotism”. I am a solicitor, I don’t go for gimmicks and I always think a “qualified doctor” is best. I do not believe in miracle cures.

However, I would encourage anyone to make an appointment with Howard, whether that is for a fear of flying, heights, spiders, or any other issue.

I genuinely feel liberated and powerful to be able to cope with my vestibular condition, vertigo, and absolute fear of flying exacerbated by a medical condition, and incredibly grateful to have found him.

Having smoked for 35 years and having failed on a number of occasions to give up, I went to see Howard and after just one session I no longer had the urge to smoke. Even more surprising was just 2 weeks later I realised that I was thinking of myself as a non-smoker. That was 2 years ago and having not smoked at all since that first session, I am now happier and healthier than I have been in a long time.

STOPPING SMOKING

I honestly can’t thank Howard enough. After spending years of dealing with NOT being able to control my anger/temper and letting that control me AND effect the people around me, I finally decided to do something about it.

I’ve previously had counselling and CBT but it hadn’t been helpful (and almost made it worse). I felt lost, but a friend recommended Howard and his methods (and mentioned that he had helped her).

Straight away, from the first 20 minute chat, Howard summed me up perfectly and I felt confident and comfortable talking to him. I arranged the first session face to face and was blown away by how it session went. ANGER ISSUES

I just wanted to reach out and say thank you. I try to think about our conversations and pinpoint the one thing you did or said that made it all click and to be honest I can’t. But it has now been 4 months since we last spoke and still no binges or even urges to do so.

When I notice myself getting full or no longer enjoying the taste of what I am eating – I just stop! As simple as that! I do not feel the urge to push through the pain until my plate is finished nor the urge to resist the leftover food by immediately throwing it out to make it inedible. I can for the first time in years sit comfortably with a plate of food in front of me and not feel the need to eat it or resist eating it.

My quality of life has massively improved as I am not scheduling my days around my eating and trying to skip meals so that I can “indulge and enjoy” my planned meal that evening. I eat when I’m hungry and don’t eat when I am not – sounds so simple yet I don’t know why I never managed to do this until now!

INSTRUSIVE THOUGHTS & ANXIETY

Having been scared/petrified of dogs for my entire life and as long as i could remember, at 36 and now a mother of 2 small children, I wanted to make sure i didn’t pass my fears and anxieties to them. I was sceptical of being ‘fixed’ in a short space of time but then I met Howard.

Within an a couple of sessions with him (I’m not sure how) – he has compartmentalised this fear completely – I’m not a fan of dogs and a dog will never be my ‘best friend’ but I NO LONGER get that horrible feeling knocking on the door of somewhere and hearing a dog bark, I have no anxiety or issues being around dogs, them jumping up on me, licking me or otherwise.

I have suffered with emetophobia (fear of sick) amongst other anxieties for 26 years & tried lots of different methods to help me overcome my phobia.

Working for six years for a complete bully left me suffering from panic attacks in the work environment, which soon spread to other situations. CBT and NLP helped me manage them but they never went away and avoidance of situations that might cause them was often an easier option, meaning that I was limiting the things I did as a result.

PANIC ATTACKS & TRAUMA

Dear Howard,

I thought you might be interested in my progress. I have just returned from three weeks cycling in France during which, my wife and I, visited the original place where my fear of heights/ sheer edges first manifested itself.

The place is the Cirque de Navacelles, an amazing huge hole in the ground caused by erosion, with very sheer sides – it is entered and left by roads that descend steeply clinging to the sheer edges. I am attaching a photo showing the road used on the way in from the rim, taken from our road out on the opposite side.

We first visited in 1995 when I cycled down rather slowly on the left side of the road, as close to the cliff face as possible, absolutely terrified, while my wife cycled ahead of me on the (correct) right hand side of the road in case traffic came. This time I descended reasonably normally on the right side of the road next to the edge without difficulty. I won’t pretend I was unaware of the drop but I was comfortable with it which is quite something!

Thanks very much for your help in achieving this – it hasn’t been seriously tested since I came to see you 2 years ago!

I cannot believe the changes in myself after just one session. After many many years of living in my small world I am already beginning to feel more confident about driving and flying and feel ready to do things I haven’t been able to do for many years.

ANXIETY AROUND DRIVING

Prior to going to see Howard, I had attempted to treat my various anxieties through more ‘traditional’ forms of therapy and medication. While these treatments helped to briefly alleviate some of my symptoms, this never seemed to last long as they were simply coping mechanisms but didn’t deal with the underlying thought processes that were proving so damaging. After just 3 hours (across 2 sessions) with Howard I can honestly say that my anxieties have subsided significantly. While some of the intrusive thoughts I was having do still pop up from time to time, Howard taught me how to remove the fear factor from these thoughts and to actually invite them. The sessions were totally different to how I expected; the hypnotherapy was far less of the ‘look into my eyes’ stereotype I envisaged and much more related to talking through different thought processes and training myself to relate to them differently. ANXIETY & INSTRUSIVE THOUGHTS

I went to see Howard about a year ago. I had been suffering from deep loneliness especially in the evenings.

Prior to seeing Howard I had tried EFT, talking therapy, hypnotherapy, yoga, and meditation for a number of years. They all helped to a certain extent (for a limited period of time), but I still had very strong bouts of emptiness and loneliness.

I could be in a room full of people, food, drinks and music and still feel lonely and disconnected.

One session, just one session with Howard and loneliness has become a thing of the past.

I can say with all honesty that I enjoy my own company and have been able to just sit by myself and read a book, something that I really, really enjoy now and even look forward to. This is a big change from feeling the desperate need to fill my evenings with dinners, coffees and dates!

STOPPING SMOKING

Having suffered with trichitillomania (eyelash pulling) for over 20 years with very little understanding of why I did it (and deep embarrassment) I contacted Howard in a last ditch attempt to try and stop once and for all. Having tried various interventions (podcasts, CBT, will power!) I was pretty sceptical about the effectiveness of Howard’s approach and honestly thought it was something I was just going to have to cope with (and continue to hide) for the rest of my life. I am delighted to report that in the 5 or so weeks since my first session with Howard, I have not pulled at all and have managed to acknowledge the “urge” and reframe my thinking, when needed. It feels like a revelation and I am hoping this lasts (I’m assured it will!) but even a few weeks of not doing it is a positive change.

Howard’s style is very unique (but great I think) and he gets you to challenge your way of thinking in a safe and confidential environment. Highly recommend just giving it a go, even if you feel you have exhausted all options. Thank you Howard!

EYELASH PULLING

It’s hard to believe the change in my 11 year old son after a couple of sessions with Howard. After many years of suffering from an extreme vomit phobia he now no longer gives it a second thought. FEAR OF SICK (EMETOPHOBIA)

We flew long haul to Dominican Republic, the usual anxiety and sleepless nights and nightmares building up to the holiday didn’t happen and I actually was looking forward to going on holiday! I also booked to stay in a hotel the night before the flight which I think helped as it meant we didn’t have to get up too early and that we had a more relaxed check in etc. On the morning of the flight I even had breakfast which has never happened before and I actually enjoyed being in the airport and looking around the shops. The flight itself was fine, I did take a diazapan once we boarded as I did feel a bit anxious but really I took it as a preventative measure and yes there was turbulence but I did feel ok and it was so nice to watch some movies and read my book instead of the normal heart pounding and feeling terrified throughout.

Coming home I did feel anxious at the airport and I did feel sick and couldn’t eat or concentrate much, the long flight home was bumpy and uncomfortable and I did have trouble focusing, also it was a night flight and I found I couldn’t relax enough to sleep but all in all I certainly didn’t have the pounding heart etc and I used the techniques to help me stay calm.

All in all I’m so happy with the outcome and although I’m not sure I’m ‘cured’ I feel that I know I can have another session if I feel its needed, I also feel that I have used the techniques in other aspects of my life.
